Vincent van Gogh is one of the world’s most celebrated master artists to exist in our age. With the transforming scope of traditional industries, the Van Gogh Sites Foundation has exclusively partnered with Appreciator.io, a global web 3 platform from China to bring Van Gogh’s life, art, and stories to be appreciated for future generations.

On October 10th, in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong, Appreciator.io unveiled the Vincent van Gogh 39 NFT collection to the world together with Frank van den Eijnden, Director of the Van Gogh Sites Foundation, Tomas Snels, the creative lead & creator for the NFT and collectibles, Emily Cheung, the founder & CEO of Appreciator.io, and her international team. The collaboration aims to harness blockchain technology to support the preservation of treasured cultural heritage and also to nurture the development of artists from all over the world.

The Significance of Van Gogh NFTs

While most of Van Gogh’s works have been analyzed by art enthusiasts from all over the world, many aspects of his early years in his homeland that helped define him as a master artist are often forgotten or unknown. This collection reimagines the narratives from Vincent’s work and life from the perspective of 39 distinct monuments spread throughout his birthplace in Brabant, the Netherlands. Bring together over 15 local collaborators from the region and over 1000 hours committed to the creation of the first 6 NFTs and collectibles, the team will continue to carry on Van Gogh’s heritage to the world.

NFTs are a new innovation in the way people can experience Vincent’s life in the contemporary era. The NFT collection aims to immerse more audiences and engage them with a multi-faceted experience to appreciate the key memories and places that were seen and felt through Vincent’s soul in his homeland. When thinking of NFTs, most people may imagine a static copy of an image, however, it has been demonstrated through the launch that it is much more complex and innovative than thought. The NFT is created using multiple mediums such as 3D scanning & printing, 3D rendering, music production, woodworking, 3D printing, silver molds, and more that are inspired by the nature, monuments, and environment of Vincent’s hometown.

In fact, NFTs are not the only things that come with this collection. For this first drop, each NFT in the collection is created from the leaf plucked from the tree on the site of 6 of the 39 monuments in Vincent’s hometown. It brings 6 distinct sets divided into 2 different tiers: the Millennium pack, a premium edition for issues 1/39 to 3/39, and the Century pack, a more affordable edition for issues 4/39 ~ 6/39. Each tier will include different contents based on different price points. Each leaf is scanned digitally and also recreated into a silver leaf which is housed in a triptych box made from the local Poplar tree that populates many of Van Gogh’s artworks. This creation process is not only significant for its connection to the themes and ideas of Van Gogh’s works but is also symbolic as a way of preserving the heritage of Vincent van Gogh in both digital and physical forms.

“These NFTs shed light on the life of Van Gogh. By understanding the locales of his birthplace and childhood and the natural environment where he found much inspiration, peace, and solace, the public can fully appreciate the artist’s vision and work,”

– Frank van den Eijnden, Director of the Van Gogh Sites Foundation

Nurturing Art and Preserving Heritage

The proceeds from the sale of the NFTs will partially go to the foundation to fund the preservation of the monuments and Van Gogh’s heritage. Furthermore, local artists and collaborators who are taking part in the creation of the project will also receive a part of the proceeds with each sale. Appreciator.io will also offer corporate clients who purchase three Millennium tier NFTs to be able to take part in the ESG initiative of planting trees in Van Gogh’s homeland in the future. These are all key values that the Appreciator.io founder & CEO, Emily Cheung, emphasizes. She believes that innovative technologies can also be used as a way to create meaningful collectibles and facilitate broader participation in real-life preservation projects. On this, Appreciator.io’s head curator, Adam G.Y. Chen, also added that NFTs can help them connect the art industry with young, more digitally savvy collectors and drive sustainability by existing where future generations interact.

对此,Appreciator.io 的首席策展人 Adam G.Y.

“You must embrace technology if you want to interact with younger generations.”

– Adam Chen, Head Curator of Appreciator.io

Since its launch, Appreciator.io has been featured in over 100 media, press, and tv outlets locally and globally. This is a significant moment for a company based in Asia facing the art world. The collective team working on the Van Gogh NFTs will continue to release the remaining 33 monument-inspired NFTs over the year and is set to announce a further collaboration with different top-tier cultural institutions, brands, and artists to continue in the mission of preserving heritage using technology.

Computing Chinese Traditional Aesthetics

“I want to explore art from the perspective of science and technology.”

About the artist
Graduated from the Institute of Computing Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Reva is a freelance algorithmic artist and a computer graphics engineer based in Beijing. Her works explore algorithmic art, NFTs, and creative programming, real-time interactive installation, and GPU shader programming. Before becoming an artist, she was an R&D engineer for the China Film Group and a partner of a VR and AR company.

Later, her interest in exploring the relationship between technology and art drove her to become an artist in 2018. Since then her works have been exhibited at the Art window project of CHAO Hotel in Sanlitun Beijing, BDMG Life Art Festival, Gap C Gallery+ Art Exhibition, and has worked on major collaborations like the XXIV Olympic Winter Games, Chengdu International Finance Square, fashion brand Delicate Skeleton, 24KiCK, etc. She is also the co-founder of WeirDAO, a collective predominantly comprised of China-based NFT artists, designed to encourage peer-to-peer communication and collaboration.

Artistic Origins
Reva is not the typical artist. In fact, she never pursued the path of an artist until most recently. Having worked for the film industry as an engineer, she began teaching herself digital art in 2018. Combining her computer engineering skills and artistic interests, she immersed herself into algorithmic art using coding which was inspired by the visual representation of mathematical functions and autonomous system simulations.

As her art developed, she turned to crypto art after reading the Bitcoin white paper during the start of the pandemic. While China’s stance on crypto was relatively strict, she felt the significance of blockchain technology for the future. She comments on its possibilities as such: “I dream about a real-time interactive project on the blockchain. It can be interacted with by anyone through smart contracts. It can reveal some interesting aspects of reality. It would be a bridge between crypto and the real world.” During this time she engaged with many crypto-related communities and platforms on Discord and Twitter, eventually making her way up to becoming a certified crypto artist on Makersplace.

The foundation of Reva’s inspiration is drawn from mathematics and the power of computer-generated art. Many of the works she has generated include aspects of oriental influences as their subject. In her series, “Through the Window”, she generates blossoms and branches surrounded by Chinese-styled window lattices that are seen in Chinese art and architecture. Each piece is generated with alternating patterns, weather, and nature. The variations as seen by the viewer can act as a window to a memory in time, the sentiment, and the sceneries that we envision in our own narratives.

“A Heaven in a Wild Flower” and “Chasing the Moon” are extensions of this subject matter and her exploration of traditional patterns. Bringing more abstract thinking into these works, the first of the two series comes from the Chinese title, “一花一世界” (Yī Huā Yī Shìjiè) which means “a flower is a world”. This is derived from the Flower Adornment Sutra (Avatamsaka Sutra), a key scripture that is prominent in East Asian Buddhism which in part details the phenomena of the universe as seen by a Buddha from the perspective of enlightenment. Traces of these influences can be found in China, Korea, and Japan.

The theme is also reflected partly through English poet William Blake’s poem that Reva recites: “To see a World in a Grain of Sand And a Heaven in a Wild Flower, Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour.” Reva believes this is the emotional state of serenity and openness. In this series, she mimics the patterns of porcelain, she teaches the program to represent the textures, colors, and themes we have seen on oriental porcelain pieces of china.

“Even though this world has flaws, it is full of vitality. A flower may be small, but it is a paradise for bees and butterflies. Everyone is also a flower. We just ignore or forget to observe it sometimes.”

The “Chasing the Moon” series also generates window lattices and clouds juxtaposed over the full moon, slowly zooming as if being pulled into a trance. The moon is the closest force of nature as seen by humanity. Its significance, energies, and symbolism have been recorded throughout human existence. If “Through the Window” is a state of inner reflection of our closest memories, one can see this series as an outward view of our inner world. Perhaps it is like a dream or an abstract fantasy that engulfs our attention, similar in fashion to the awe of a full moon.

Beyond Chinese aesthetics, Reva also explores traditional Chinese practices such as Tai Chi as seen in the “Flowing Nautilus” series. Its themes include time, variation, form, and infinity. In Tai Chi, there are 5 elements called Wu Xing that are reinterpreted through real-time shading in each artwork. Each of the 5 elements is a representation of the variables within our lives in the form of Earth, Fire, Water, Metal, and Wood.

In Tai Chi, it is the flow of energy linked by these elements which represent organs in our bodies, balanced through the forces of Yin and Yang. Wood engenders Fire, Metal engenders Water, and so on. The artist describes the representation as an “infinite corridor we see when we stand between two mirrors.” By altering coded parameters, Reva translates them into the textures of each element in an infinite loop that is constantly spiraling.

Reva’s Future Vision of NFTs
Chinese art has come a long way in the global art market and with the rise of new technologies, a more diverse range of artists will be able to create. Reva believes this evolution and embracing of innovative technologies will enable more Chinese artists to expand their horizons. Unlike traditional art, she finds that the community aspect of artists in web 3 allows artists and collectors to directly interact with each other, supporting the development and transformation of art in a new digital future.

“Anything can be NFT in the future. Not only art but also games. As long as it is in the virtual world, everything can be tokenized…NFT will be the most fundamental technology in the Metaverse, representing all unique digital assets containing human creativity. At that time we probably won’t emphasize the name NFT but it will be the most common aspect in people’s digital lives in the future.”

Therapeutic Vulnerability

Art is considered one of the highest forms of human expression. Beyond aesthetics, moods, intent, narratives, and symbolism are common traits of masterful art. Studying the works of Francisco Goya, we see how his “Black Painting” series reflects his bleak outlook on humanity and the world around him. This kind of self-expression is not only significant in its portrayal of the nuances of history but also indicative of a method of self-healing. The works are intense and make us wonder about the sanity and state of Goya, during this dark time.

Being vulnerable to the public can be a daunting task for any individual, but for artist Yosnier Miranda, he expresses his pain as a way to grow. Yosnier did not really aspire to become an artist, but rather, naturally found a calling at a low point in his life. With an unlikely reckoning, he began using art as a catalyst to express himself, with a desire to be more vulnerable to the public as a way to move on in life.

“I like to portray myself getting ‘hurt,’ but it all serves for growth. There’s beauty behind a lot of pain that I experienced, and generally, lots of people experience. I like to highlight that a lot in my work.”

About the artist

Yosnier Miranda is a young emerging digital artist based in Tampa, Florida. Inspired by the absence of intimacy and love, his works are highly personal and carry deep symbolism about his inner self. Drawn in the style of vibrant pastel-toned tarot cards, he crafts a distinct narrative that explores self-reflection and a wide range of inner human experiences. Yosnier gained sudden fame when his work caught the eye of Grammy-nominated artist, SZA. Although he has only been creating for a short time he did commission work for COACH, Kendall! as well as other prominent musical artists. He has been featured in the Museum of Contemporary Digital Art in London, SuperRare, and in the Juneteenth Weekend exhibition at Superchief Gallery NFT. Recently his work has been selected by rising NFT artist, FEWOCiOUS, to be displayed on various Billboards throughout New York City.

Embracing Vulnerability

In most Yosnier’s works, he draws a figure that represents himself which he describes as such: “It’s me depicting my self-worth. What I’m going through and documenting my life in some ways”. This is also coupled with recurring symbols that feature prominent use of swords, stars, eyes, and hearts composed under pink and blue backgrounds. This symbolism carries many meanings such as heartbreak, inner conflict, and regret, as well as a guiding entity, that helps him to heal. The emblem of a sun with an eye, for example, signifies the gaze of his father who had passed away months ago– a guide and trace of his past experiences. The boldness of his lines illustrates confidence and also gives a sense of clear intent from the artist. The contrast and distinct images announce impact. Using mystic and abstract illustrations, his artworks resemble a somewhat religious tale or heavenly account that is rooted deeply in the artist’s soul. For Yosnier, each piece he creates is akin to stained glass windows from which one can “peer into the distance or watch over someone”. His experiences of pain, vulnerability, and strife are all captured at the moment to be revealed to the public, visible through the pane that is his art.

“I will say that my art for the most part resembles stained glass. They’re just mere reflections of me, they’re pieces of my heart displayed.”

While the artist’s works are personal, many others also find comfort through them. He notes that often times expression of such motifs as pain, and darkness through art is not the focal point of his work, in fact, it is the persistence of hope and love that still persists during such experiences that appeals to him. Through this, people can look back at his heartfelt expressions to process and heal from similar experiences.

“All of my pieces are very therapeutic… My art lets me visualize and then analyze my emotions more, which helps me process things I’m going through more than anything else. They all aren’t direct self-portraits of myself, but I do consider them all to be self-portraits. I’ve cried while making seven or eight of my pieces. Towards the end when they all come together. When you just sit back and look at what you’ve created and finally get to absorb it.”

An artist from a new era

Unlike many artists of the past, Yosnier is part of an emerging group of NFT artists to grow up in the age of social media and the rise of web 3. His thoughts and narratives are embodied in the digital realm. As a digital native, creating digital art was not a question but rather a clear path for the artist.

“I feel like I caught this wave of digital art at the right time. It had just started going up a couple of months after the time that I first posted. There was the whole digital versus physical art debate, but it’s really cool to see me and my friends get the visibility that we deserve.”

Like other emerging digital artists, Yosnier interacts frequently online with many others like him. Not only has this timely era allowed him to talk to like-minded artists in various artistic mediums, but it has also allowed him to branch out and build an earnest community that motivates him to this day. Now, the artist continues to explore his most personal experiences by creating art for SuperRare.

Trusting the Algorithm to convey expression

Artists face the world in a new light under social media and new emerging technologies, yet the formula for creating art has not changed. A constant cycle of creation, destruction, and recreation is what drives the creation of something considered worthy of being art. This key principle can also be seen in the generative artist Alida Sun. Through algorithms and coding, Sun has amassed over 1000 artworks through daily creation and experimentation. She is pushing the boundaries of generative art to compose dynamic exploration into fluid motion, lighting, and the transformation of structures in unanticipated ways. In doing so she is able to identify and apply invisible forces that interact through nature and our environment.

“I often suspect I’m going about it all wrong, and truth be told I’m totally at peace with that. It’s the unexpected errors and happy accidents that keep the process exciting and rewarding for me.”

– Alida Sun

About the artist

Alida Sun is an interdisciplinary artist and designer based in Berlin and New York. With a strong interest in generative art, her works focus on assemblage, extended realities, experimental humanities, and more. Sun has been featured in publications such as Kadenze, BBC, and has exhibited in SOMA Berlin, Lightbox NYC Times Square, transmediale, the UCCA Center for Contemporary Art, The Future Blockchain Creative Center, and more. She is the first artist in history to integrate generative art, large-scale installation, blockchain, and live performance.

From a young age, Alida has always been experimenting with technology and began coding when she was 10 years old. As a self-taught coder, Alida eventually got into generative art through projection mapping after graduating from university. Using free and open source toolkits such as Processing, OpenFrameworks, and Pure Data, she began creating installations that focused on found objects. Inspired by artists such as Toyin Odutola, Koji Morimoto, Do Ho Sun, Robert Irwin, and many more, Alida believes that her style encompasses the techniques and artistic sense that she has built up working in traditional media.

As an artist who spends a lot of time online, the internet also plays a key role in Sun’s creative development. When describing herself the Sun states, “I’m from the internet”. Having grown up in the age of the internet, she has discovered that moving images, namely, GIFs, have the profound effect of reflecting the experiences around her. To Alida, GIFs are a definitive art form.

From Mathematics to Mythology

Alida Sun is a prolific creator that creates new generative artworks daily. Her ideas arise from mundane tasks and deep thinking created with maths to produce mythological pulsating patterns and structures that daze the viewers into a spiritual trance. These structures flow and transform in the most unexpected paths and forms. In fact, her practice is an intricate visualization with distinct intent and endless curiosity. Each creation uses an array of alternating technologies such as Machine learning, AI, regenerative tools, and projection mapping. While her creations are initially scripted digitally, her work is in fact an interdisciplinary practice that combines innovative technologies with live performances.

For Sun, projection mapping was a profound revelation that allowed her to discover the intricacies of the natural world around her. In her experience working with projection mapping, she states, “Projection mapping was for me a profound revelation about the natural world as much as technological wizardry. It gave me deep insights into how light itself is invisible and how what we think we see is something else entirely. Given this, light projection & mapping became ideal mediums for me to conjure the intangible, quasi-mythological algorithmic constructs that shape our digital worlds and collective cultural experience.”

Glitch Crystal Monsters

Available on Art Blocks, Glitch Crystal Monsters is an amalgam of over 777 days of generative art creation inspired by Ancient and emerging mythologies, minerals, art manifestos, light, and research into the implications for society and culture that decentralization carries. For Alida, it was important to merge the visual language of blockchain without the use of literal interpretations or familiar crypto-related imagery. The work highlights the transformative possibilities of structures she regards as unmalleable and includes key elements of fluid dynamics, solar energy, color science, and daily healing rituals.

“These elements are all important factors in developing more integrated perspectives on life. They assist me in better understanding the world and living in it. I’m not sure how I relate to healing, and I don’t identify as a healer; I simply see it as a necessary practice.”

Sentient Sun + Steel collection

Sentient Sun + Steel 系列

The Sentient Sun + Steel collection combines physical performance with coding. It is the exploration of natural phenomena that transcends imitation. The shifting contrasts of black and white gradient lines emphasize the importance of lighting to this collection. While the artist has worked with color in many of her works, viewers will often note that many of her works are also in black and white. Like in the Sentient Sun + Steel collection, the color palette aims to yield the highest contrast range, making it ideal for portraying her light projections. Light can be used to denote a particular moment in time, and convey a new expression of texture, space, and nature. However, Sun composes a dynamic interpretation that defies such expressions and creates a new atmosphere of living light forms.

Generating NFTs on Art Blocks

Sun recalls that she was not so fond of NFTs nor did she have any interest in joining the NFT space. She was often targeted with invites from emerging platforms that were looking to recruit more artists onto their marketplaces. As time went on Sun noticed her artist friends creating magnificent NFTs. It changed her perspective and she would interact with people in the space when she began exhibiting works at related locations such as the Future Blockchain Creative Center. From then on she interacted with the founder of Art Blocks, Snowfro, and kicked off her journey and standing in the NFT generative art space.

While Alida Sun continues to endlessly create new works on and off of Art Blocks, she emphasizes: “I hope people pay special attention to the structural intricacy, color depth and subtlety, plus the range and duration of 3D motion — these are all elements I’m not able to share on mainstream social media. Big Tech platforms’ compression often decimates my art beyond recognition. What gets published on Twitter represents a tiny fraction of what generative art is and can be, and not just as far as my own work’s concerned. That’s why the common dismissal of collecting digital art, “well I can just screen-grab that” is so uninformed. There’s a ton of technical, practical reasons why that assumption isn’t true. Plus — this may sound uncanny — digital artworks really can have their own spirits, so I imbued “Glitch Crystal Monsters” with elusive ones that originate from and can move across different dimensions.”

Animation isn't just for kids

About artist

Born in Hong Kong, graduated from Canadian University in Visual Arts, Animation, and Photography. Step C. took Multimedia Animation and Art and Illustration courses in Hong Kong, France, and New York. Currently, she is teaching animation and design in the Design Department of the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, and she enjoys spending the rest of her time drawing and creating.

Depths of Night

Step C was depressed in 2019. She watches the daily news about the epidemic, social turmoil, and conflict. So, she made this animation, hoping it would cure her spirit while also bringing a little warmth to society or giving people an unseen embrace.

“Fear is composed of one’s past, present, and future selves,”

 Step. C

She uses animation to convey some of the worries that individuals have: Fear of being ostracized by peers, dread of losing family members’ love, and the fear of failing to take excellent care of those you love. The characters in this animation represent the stresses and worries that Step was terrified of at various ages. These are the pressures and concerns that everyone feels at multiple times. She portrays terror as a bodily absence.

When we were children, having our family around was an essential thing. The little girl felt so empty since she didn’t feel loved by her family. The tiny girl’s chest is therefore gone.

Young people, your confidants are the ones who accompany you the most, aside from your family. You are conscious of your peers’ gazes on campus or just entering the job. Is it possible that I’m not attractive enough? Is there no one else who is intelligent and capable? Are they talking about how I look? I frequently wonder if I am worse than others. Thus, the little girl loses her face.

In middle age, there are old and young in the family, and the pressure during this time can be said to be like a thousand tons of weight on the body. As a caregiver at home, I try my best to care for every family member and friend around me daily. So, who will take care of or care for themselves?

When we become older, we get concerned again; what are we concerned about? Is it the departure of family members and friends? or……

Although the pain and darkness may seem endless, one day, it will end.

Meridian

Step started to set foot in a new field and tried to make NFT art.

“These antiques are the hard work of ancient artists. Although we cannot possibly know them, it appears that this time, we are collaborating with them to create new masterpieces. We’ll ponder what they were contemplating at the moment.”

 Step. C

Young people nowadays seldom get the chance to learn about certain historical Chinese artifacts. It is much more challenging to comprehend antiques when the epidemic of recent years is added in.

Ming Dynasty Red Sandalwood Flowing Cloud Hand Pillow

The white marble sculptures from the Ming Dynasty in the Forbidden Cityand the royal lacquerware share similarities with the engraving and form of the cloud pattern on the red sandalwood flowing cloud cushion. The red sandalwood Liuyun hand pillow in the Ming Dynasty was a device used by traditional Chinese medicine practitioners to measure the pulse.

In traditional Chinese medicine, the pulse must always be taken before diagnosing. You can see into a person’s entire being if you can see through their “pulse.” Like a pulse, antiques are handed on from one generation to the next. The two selves in the artwork observe one another as though they can see one other through the pulse.

The shape in the center represents the sign that unites them. Several blood veins are going through them, and light is around them, symbolizing an enigmatic force. The light in the center also represents infinite life by reflecting the continuous blood circulation in the human body.

The younger generation may learn more about history and culture through the utilization of antiques and NFT art. The animation’s abstraction gradually reveals that the antique is more than simply a chilly piece of wood or iron. Artists like creating new narratives about themselves to draw in more viewers interested in learning more about the underlying historical records. Let the audience for those who like antiques include both older and younger people.

Her works explore the intersection of technology and culture, as well as the tangible and spiritual. Her paintings communicate religious conviction that is distinct from typical religious sentiments, while also expressing the theory of incarnation.

“In the modern context, the fusion of various forms of artistic creation is inevitable.”

Incarnate

Among Song Ting’s many works, this is also the one to which the audience gave the best reception.

This work is inspired by the science fiction and technological art creations Song Ting has read. The rapid development of information technology has brought about a result, that is, we have made information technology a god.

Although it appears to be a mural from Dunhuang, one will start to think of Abraham in the Western Bible accounts after staring at it for a while. He even sacrificed his firstborn son because he trusted in God. Then there is Jesus Christ’s resurrection, and both of them were sacrificed. But, the actual God is concealed in the tears of the suffering people in modern society’s tumultuous times, yet we have now elevated information technology to the throne. If information technology truly assumes the role of God, it must have more humanistic principles than humans can ever comprehend.

Song Ting completed this piece by hand-painting the buddha in cave 45 of the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang as the skin using the pattern created by the antagonistic neural network as the basis of flesh and blood.

AI Orange Stampede

Dunhuang is an enigmatic and mysterious location. the characteristic features of the desert, like the bright yellow sand, odd xerophytes, robust poplar trees, etc. The dramatic contrast that the colors of the Dunhuang paintings provide increases their allure to visitors. Similar to how the preceding piece of art functions, the men and women on the wall appear to be dancing. Despite being a copy of a fresco from Dunhuang, there are some amusing ones.

The damaged areas of the 1,000-year-old Dunhuang pictures are mottled and star-spotted. They were included in the picture as elements, and Song Ting added to and recreated them using the antagonistic generative neural network method.

The damaged paintings’ exposed stone walls are given new meanings. The orange paint will fully use natural brushstrokes and algorithmic outlines while incorporating the damage into the work itself.

It seems that the protagonist in the painting is dancing, enjoying the happiness and relaxation brought by the music while stepping on oranges frantically to relieve his stress.

“History of this moment lives in history, time is not purely linear. We possess all present or future results.”

She has been captivated with classical literature since childhood, thanks to her family’s influence. In the process of making encrypted art, she has a more multi-dimensional vision and thoughts, which gives her creations more depth and profound cultural significance.

It continues the history of technology in the 1970s through the creator’s aesthetic presentation, preserves its traits, integrates current events and color trends, and merges the present with the future through pixel art.

Shachiku

The Japanese word “Shachiku” is a combination of the words “Kaisha” and“Kasaku,” and the English translation of Shachiku is “wage slave.”

It speaks to a class of people at the bottom of society who toil nonstop to support themselves. They gave up their free time and never voiced any complaints about unfair treatment at work.

Shin Oh consistently conveys a sense of loneliness and a commentary on actual life in his paintings. Coffee and instant noodles are essentials for migratory workers. They are working nonstop, adapting plans to superiors, and attending numerous meetings. Workers at the bottom are compelled to forgo rest and food breaks to catch up on work. It has become standard practice to work overtime in the workplace at night while consuming instant noodles while working nonstop at the computer. Additionally, drinking coffee with it to stay alert.

Companionship is the best gift in the world

” I would describe myself as someone obsessed with the past; I am often nostalgic and remember everything from the past.”

My birthday was the happiest day of the year when I was a kid.

However, parents are too busy now and may not be able to accompany their children on their birthdays. Busy working and making money, and they want their children to be better off, so parents must work hard to make ends meet.

And they don’t know that what their children want most is the company of their parents. Looking closely at the parents at work and the children painted on the wall, he is very eager for his parents to spend time with him on his birthday.

The most precious thing in the world is the company of those we love. No money can buy time, so the best gift we can give our loved ones is companionship.

Someone said:“When it rains, a child without an umbrella must run hard.”

But it’s raining so hard outside, you might as well stop, and I’ll accompany you to take shelter from the rain.

Perhaps what this sentence means is,

Don’t keep forcing yourself to work harder when you are sad, stop and let me chat with you.

Sometimes, when you are in a bad mood, what you need most is simple companionship. I don’t need any fancy words, I hope to be by my side silently, and when the sky starts to clear, everything will be better.

On the verge of a desperate collapse, suddenly the phone rang. “R U OK?”is a simple greeting from a friend. It is because of these few simple English letters sad people are brought out of pain. On the phone, a hand and an umbrella stretched out. This greeting from the other end of the phone is like an umbrella, preventing sadness from soaking me.

In many cases, consulting an expert is unnecessary. The best way to help someone who is experiencing bad emotions is to show greater concern for their feelings and to learn to listen well.

The empathy shown with a simple hello may also help to make the world a better place.

“Every piece of my work revolves around real life, past and present, but never the future”

Shin oh uses the most modern artistic way to show the struggles of real life. And we are fighting inequality and injustice in society. It shows the exhaustion of everyday young people. she hopes that through her artwork, we can maintain a healthy work-life balance.

The Meaning Of Time

《Samsara》

People born during a time when no war was fortunate, unfortunate individuals who were displaced and going through starvation. “Samsara” has been in the works for two years. It just so happens that these two years coincide with the onset of the current pandemic. What is perhaps more surprising is that the war between Ukraine and Russia occurred at the same time.

Experience the horrors of battle, terror, and sadness.

The plot is set in the not-too-distant future. People’s greed has swamped the world, resulting in a scarcity of resources. People battle one another, resulting in terrible conflicts. In the end, humans are compelled to evacuate the planet and seek a new home somewhere in the cosmos. Is their new abode, however, a rebirth in time and space? We believe that the constant evolution and advancement and lack of spiritual growth may be a reincarnation.

It is possible that the entire planet is the same life form, but this life is you, the next life is me, and all people are the same person, but they injure and support one another.

“In this work, I tried to let the audience see their own body, just like I usually see a poor beggar on the street; but in VR, I found that the beggar is me, with thin hands and fly bites, which can make me The audience empathizes, and then thinks about what to do, and also makes the audience’s body part of my storytelling.”

—Hsin-Chien Huang

This work may make anyone feel the same way, regardless of where they were born or when. The experiencer might now appear in the results under numerous identities thanks to VR technology. It might be a newborn infant, a displaced refugee, or a person in power who wields power in his palm. People who can feel and think from other viewpoints may appreciate and care for others to create a peaceful world. Hsin-Chien Huang aspires to make people more compassionate through his work and technology.

Although the covid-19 is a nightmare for numerous artists, it has forced several exhibits to be postponed or canceled. Hsin-Chien Huang, on the other hand, is not convinced. More exhibits have been converted into online “cloud exhibitions” by covid-19. This is a fantastic opportunity to market VR technology while simultaneously promoting its advancement.

Appreciate immersive painting

About artist

Mao Siyi was born in 1989 in Shandong, China. She has been involved with painting since the age of three, having grown up in an artistic household and having learned numerous Chinese and Western painting styles. She was already well-known and had won significant painting contests before becoming a VR artist.

Mao Siyi, a VR female artist flourishing in the worldwide VR painting arena, has several artistic revelations. Six years of creative experience in Paris, France, honed her broad aesthetic sense and international perspective. She has had multiple solo shows in Singapore, Shanghai, and other locations, but she is not content with her accomplishments in the VR painting sector.

About VR painting

“The VR painting tool is like the magic wand in the hands of Cinderella’s fairy godmother. Various colors float in the air and can be used at any time, and any graphics can be dragged. You can even move through the pictures as they take shape. If you want to see the pumpkin carriage that you “changed”, you only need to look closely. Of course, if there are unwanted parts, the traces in the air will disappear with a wave of your hand.”

 — Siyi Mao

On August 26, 2020, Siyi’s first work, “Untitled” created in the form of a VR painting

The distinction between VR painting and traditional two-dimensional painting and sculpting is that it needs exceptionally high fundamental abilities as well as a strong sense of space. Artists add music and dance to their creations in addition to enjoying the outcomes, making the entire creative process analogous to works of art. Siyi not only pioneered VR production, but she also taught herself editing and filming methods, sublimating her own video works.

The creation of modern technology integrating Chinese culture

Mao Siyi has a distinct point of view and creative style, and her works are all-encompassing. Astronomy, Religion, Philosophy, and Culture. Siyi is skilled in Chinese painting, drawing, watercolor painting, and other Chinese and Western painting styles. The work’s style blends “impressionism” with“primitive art,” which can’t help but make the observer ponder. Consider the attitude and motivation that the artworks provide.

“Although VR painting is a brand-new technical experience, it’s okay to play small tricks. To truly complete a painting, you need a solid foundation and a sense of space beyond imagination. The spirit goes back and forth, the body repeats the same mistakes, and the daily creative climax is surging. , holding tools and wearing glasses, immersed in his own carnival world.“

 — Siyi Mao

On September 25, 2019, Mao Siyi cooperated with the Cultural Propaganda Department of the Hebei Provincial Government to create a VR painting about the quintessence of the country, Peking Opera, to do cultural publicity in the Hebei Pavilion of the China Pavilion at the World Expo 2022 Dubai.

She receives invitations to paint for marketing since different events and exhibition spaces love her artwork. With waving implements, Siyi’s paintings bring Chinese Peking Opera actors to life and convey to the viewer the vibrant historical charm of the Chinese people. It makes the audience’s delight and experience immersive. At the same time, the publicity provided an opportunity for the audience to learn about new artistic processes while also deepening their grasp of Chinese theatre culture, thus slaying two birds with one stone.

She aspires to merge trends and traditions via excellent painting methods. More people might experience the allure of traditional Chinese culture as a result of the collision or encounter. However, in April of this year, Mao Siyi launched an education effort in the hopes that more young people would be exposed to such a creative manner of painting via social media.

Mao Siyi pays honor to China’s treasures by transforming the work into 3D. Although VR painting still has limits in terms of color and texture restoration, it has a distinct characteristic.

She has committed herself to preserving Chinese culture throughout the years, employing her artistic abilities to include various components in her works. Not only that, but we can tell in her creative films that she adores producing and is full of energy. She transports the audience into a tremendous aesthetic sensory experience with her “magic wand” dancing in her hands.
