About the Exhibition

Welcome to our Artech for healing Sunflower exhibition. In Vincent short but intense decade as an artist, he poured his soul into nearly 900 paintings and penned over 2000 of heartfelt letters. Among these works, classics like “The Potato Eaters,” “Sunflowers,” and “Starry Night” speak volumes about his innermost thoughts and feelings. Near his hometown of Zundert in Brabant, fields of tulips and sunflowers bloomed, during summer. Each petal echoing his profound connection to nature. To him, sunflowers weren’t just flowers—they were symbols of resilience, always turning towards the sun’s warm embrace. In a poignant letter, he wrote, “The sunflower is mine.”

Sunflowers became a source of comfort and inspiration for Vincent. Despite life’s challenges, his paintings shimmered with hope and determination. As he once wrote, “It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done.” Through his Sunflower series, we glimpse not only his artistic brilliance but also his profound love for life and his wishes of the blossom of friendship with Paul Gauguin.
