About the Exhibition

Porcelain—often referred to in the West as “fine China”—has long stood as a symbol of beauty, craftsmanship, and cultural exchange. Celestial Blues invites audiences to rediscover this timeless medium through a contemporary lens, blending centuries-old ceramic traditions with cutting-edge technologies such as AI, generative design, and projection mapping.
Presented by Appreciator.io, this immersive exhibition transforms porcelain from a static relic of the past into a living, breathing narrative—one that spans continents, dynasties, and digital futures. From the Silk Road to the screens of today, porcelain has traveled far; Celestial Blues charts this journey through large-scale immersive installations, digital storytelling, and cross-cultural symbolism.
At the heart of the exhibition are two featured works:
-
“Pattern Dance + Contemporary Reconstruction” by Henry Hu, a multi-surface generative projection (including a 3-meter porcelain form) that weaves abstracted patterns from East and West into a dynamic visual dialogue.
-
“The Journey of Porcelain” by Liu Siyu, a layered projection narrative that merges kiln traditions, personal storytelling, and public participation.

Guided by lead curator Adam Chen, Celestial Blues also explores how cultural heritage can become living IP—through storytelling, spatial design, product creation, and education. This exhibition is not only a tribute to porcelain’s legacy, but a bold reimagination of its future.

About the Artist
Siyu Liu
(China)
Liu Siyu is a trilingual interdisciplinary artist, designer, and educator based in Changsha and Chengdu, whose creative practice bridges audiovisual communication, public health advocacy, and participatory art. With a professional background spanning over a decade, she has collaborated with leading Chinese e-commerce brands on product innovation and holds more than 20 national design patents — a testament to her inventive approach to everyday design.
A long-time mentor and former college lecturer with 9 years of academic experience, Liu has empowered countless students through community-centered design workshops that explore how creativity can serve social good. Her artistic lens is deeply informed by her personal experience living with bipolar disorder, which fuels her commitment to mental wellness, environmental protection, and the healing power of art.
Liu’s recent work has focused on digital public art that evolves organically over time and space, actively engaging public participation and blurring the lines between artist and audience. Her acclaimed Echo Coffee Mobile Art Museum — a nomadic project that exchanges free coffee for stories — transforms personal narratives into collective memory, art, and reflection on themes of love, loss, and resilience.
A featured artist in Appreciator.io’s Catharsis (2023) and Van Gogh Digi Village (2024) exhibitions in Hong Kong, Liu Siyu continues to push the boundaries of socially engaged art through her innovative use of tools such as TouchDesigner and JimengAI.
In Celestial Blues, her projection work The Journey of Porcelain weaves together cultural heritage and personal healing through immersive storytelling — inviting viewers to walk through kiln-fired memories and rediscover the timeless emotional resonance of porcelain.
Henry Hu
(China)
Henry Hu is a Singapore-based visual artist and designer with a deep-rooted background in technology and a distinct artistic voice shaped by 26 years of life in Shanghai. As both an artist and technologist, Henry’s practice merges illustration, motion graphics, and 3D generative art to explore beauty not merely as decoration, but as a transformative force. His works often act as portals—reframing complex social and ecological issues through fluid, immersive visual experiences.
A featured artist in Appreciator.io’s Catharsis (2023), Henry has since emerged as a prominent figure in international projection mapping festivals, where his signature style bridges the organic and the digital, the historical and the speculative.
In 2025 alone, Henry’s acclaimed Pulse of Nature series was showcased across three continents: At OFFF Barcelona, the work was featured on the facade of Disseny Hub for OFFF’s 25th anniversary; In San Francisco, Pulse of Nature Vol. 2 lit up the Palace Hotel during Let’s Glow SF, celebrating resilience through nature-inspired forms; And in Shanghai, Pulse of Nature Vol. 1 transformed the iconic Friendship Hall into a blooming digital ecosystem, earning finalist recognition at Shining Shanghai International Light Art Open Call.
His award-winning work Transmutations at the Lunar Festival of Lights in Sofia, Bulgaria, reimagined the facade of the National Gallery Kvadrat 500 as a living entity, taking 3rd place in the international competition “LEGACY.” His projection Reef of the Future, selected for “Bright Horizons,” was presented on the National Palace of Culture and envisioned a post-climate harmony between coral ecosystems and digital infrastructure.
In Celestial Blues, Henry presents Pattern Dance + Contemporary Reconstruction, a large-scale, multi-surface projection experience—including wall, floor, and a 3-meter physical porcelain form—infused with abstracted cultural motifs from East and West. His technical approach, powered by generative design tools, transforms porcelain into a living vessel of cross-cultural dialogue and meditative motion.
